So your man got his knee dirty!? WOOOHOOOOO. Yay! What an exciting time! So much to plan and organise for one of the biggest days of your lives! There are so many things on your list, venue, guest list, bridal party, THE DRESS, hair make up. The list goes on. Sometimes our skin gets forgotten about until the last minute. We get it, it’s a hella crazy time, EXCITING, but crazy. We have some tips to help get your skin looking like a glowing goddess by the time you say ‘I do’
A very common question we get asked is “how long before I get married should I have a facial?”
GREAT question ladies!! It really is different for everyone. If you have a skin condition or concern you wish to correct, acne, pigmentation, scarring etc. We recommend at 6-12 months depending on the severity of your current condition. YEP, that far in advance. Now, don’t panic. This doesn’t mean if you meet us a month out we can’t help you. We absolutely can. I have put together a simple timeline that will, hopefully clarify a few things.
6-12 months out from your big horah: , This is the time to do any corrective treatments. From resurfacing peels, Dermapen, IPL skin revision and correcting skin function. This gives your skin time to get a little worse before it gets better. Quite often, especially with breakouts and acne, the skin looks a little worse before it gets better. The skin purges everything out onto the surface. Like a detox. If you want some more info on this, refer to our blog ‘Lets talk Acne’. We recommend in salon treatments along with an active homecare routine to support your technicians work. Remember, you need to help us, help you. The more work you do at home, the better the results are going to be. We are your skin’s personal trainer! Starting early allows resurfacing and true revision work to be done, with time to then hydrate, hydrate, hydrate to ensure you are the most glowing, bouncy human when you take the aisle.
3-6 months before all eyes are on you to say ‘I do’: is a fab time for us to really work on that internal skin function. This can be done with some DMK Enzyme Therapy treatments. We recommend your first 3 treatments spaced one week apart. This gets your skin functioning at its optimal health, giving it a thorough cleanse, eliminate toxins and fill the skin with water. This gives us a fantastic canvas to work with when we can then come in to tweak the little imperfections you aren’t crazy about. DMK enzymes teamed with hydrating serums and masks to be used at home will see us coming into your day with something ‘NEW’ ( your skin!) 😊
1-3 months– Don’t panic, its not to late for us to help you! We have many tools in our kits to get you looking and feeling fresh. Hydro Dermabrasion treatments and gentle enzyme peels are a great way to get the skin looking fresh in a short time frame. We may not be able to correct that old acne scarring you have had for years, or eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, but we sure can help your skin look and feel softer and smoother.
1 month out!!! YAYYYYYY. Your Hen’s party is just around the corner and your going to party like its 1999, with a topless waiter, or 5! This isn’t time to try any new moves, apart from on the dance floor! We want to keep it simple! This is not the time to introduce any new ingredients into the skin that are going to disrupt your current skin state. We don’t want to purge or detox the skin this close to the big day. We recommend having some LED treatments paired with our Pomegranate or Pumpkin Pro Dermal treatments. For more information on LED therapy, refer to our blog ‘The Power of Light’ This is the time to introduce a beautiful hydrating serum and an at-home mask. We love O Cosmedics 3 in 1 fruit peel mask, followed by DMK hydrating mask. This combo can be done the night before, so you can wake up with smooth, plump skin. Your make up artist will love you forever when she paints your face later!
Now, let’s talk tans!! If you have never had a tan before, we strongly suggest you think about if you want one for your big day. We like our brides to look the best version of themselves. So, if you are not normally one to have a tan… then don’t. You don’t NEEEED to, just because you are wearing white. You are fabulous, and you want to look like YOU! Your hubby-to-be wants to be able to recognize you 😊 If you do choose to be a bronzed babe, we always recommend a trial. We usually spray our bride’s as a trial for their hen’s day. So, when you are doing tequila shots out of a belly button among abs, at least you will look damn hot and tanned doing it! You know, in case the pics go viral later!
Congratulations again on your engagement, and please let us know how we can help you prepare. It’s a fab time to start now.
